An introduction to our conference
The theme of the CANSO Asia Pacific Conference 2026 is “Accelerating implementation of air navigation services modernisation and unlocking opportunities through regional collaboration“.
ICAO expects air traffic to nearly triple in the next 25 years. We need to build capacity and capability in the skies to support this growth, in a safe and efficient manner. As aviation is cross-border, air navigation services’ systems need to be inter-operable. Air navigation service providers can also benefit from common situation pictures (CSPs) which support better decision making, and more seamless air travel.
ICAO is now developing for adoption at the 43rd ICAO Assembly in 2028 the Minimum Implementation Path (MIP) to air navigation services (ANS) modernisation, which defines the baseline set of essential ANS capabilities that all States should implement to ensure global interoperability, harmonisation, and readiness for air navigation modernisation.
The CANSO Asia Pacific Conference 2026 brings together ANSPs, government, and industry leaders to discuss these topics and how Asia Pacific can build capacity and capability in its skies to support growth.
The Conference will include presentations on Europe’s approach to building a Single European Sky and a proposed approach for Asia Pacific, taking into account our own unique contexts and circumstances.
The Conference will discuss the key elements and benefits of common situation pictures and how these can be developed for the region. We will also discuss the minimum ANS capabilities that all States should implement, as inputs to the ICAO MIP, and the implementation support needed for the region.
The Conference will conclude with a discussion on the follow-ups, including the roles that can be played by various regional bodies like the ICAO, Asia/Pacific Air Navigation Planning and Implementation Regional Group (APANPIRG), the Asia- Pacific ANSP Committee, CANSO, individual States and industry.

Networking Break – Sponsored by
Panel Session: Shared Skies, Smarter Decisions: Building a Common Situational Picture (CSP) in APAC This panel will discuss the key elements and benefits of CSPs, and explore how ANSPs and industry partners can collaborate to create CSPs for the region. Panellists will examine strategies for integrating meteorological, aeronautical, and air traffic data, and discuss the essential components of meaningful CSPs that enable globally optimised flight operations. The session will also highlight the importance of timely, consistent and trusted data provision by States to support region-wide interoperability and collaborative decision-making.
Lunch – Sponsored by Aireon (TBC)
Panel Session: Laying the Foundation: Minimum Capabilities and Implementation Support for States This session will examine the minimum capabilities that all States should implement for a harmonised and interoperable Air Navigation Service (ANS), as inputs to the ICAO Minimum Implementation Path (MIP), and explore the implementation support needed across Asia Pacific. Industry representatives will share how they can support ANSPs in the implementation of minimum capabilities, including whether existing business models need to evolve to make solutions more cost-effective and easily implementable. The discussion will also consider how collaboration between states, ANSPs, and industry can ensure universally accessible, practical, and harmonised systems across the region.
Panel Session: Next Steps for APAC: Synergising Efforts for Regional Growth Supporting growth in Asia Pacific requires strong regional collaboration, actionable follow-ups, and a shared vision across States, ANSPs, and industry in the region. Building on the discussions on the MIP and CSPs, this executive panel brings together Asia Pacific leadership to discuss the follow-ups and implementation, focusing on the roles of various regional bodies such as the ICAO Asia Pacific Air Navigation Planning and Implementation Regional Group (APANPIRG), the Asia-Pacific ANSP Committee, CANSO, individual States, and industry. Panellists will share practical approaches for advancing MIP and CSP adoption across States with varying levels of readiness, and identify concrete next steps and support mechanisms to translate strategy and plans into operational reality, ensuring APAC is well-positioned to safely and efficiently accommodate future air traffic growth.
