Entry Point North is transforming ATC Basic training with Online training options

22/01/2026

In the last years Entry Point North has developed a sought-after Online training option for ATC Basic Theory. Basic ATC Theory Online is now in its fourth delivery, with another 23 ATCO students building a shared foundation in a six-week online theory phase ahead of simulator training. The programme provides the full theory phase of Basic ATC in an Online format with live guided sessions and is designed to prepare learners before they enter the simulator.

Across Europe, ANSPs are under pressure to train more controllers within tighter planning windows whilekeeping quality and regulatory compliance in place. Basic ATC Theory Online is designed to respond to that reality. It delivers a structured theory phase with live instructor guidance and continuous follow ups.

Several ANSPs have shown great interest in the new delivery format, and both Naviair and HungaroControl are currently partnering with Entry Point North on Basic ATC Theory Online for their ATCO students. The training is aligned with Commission Regulation (EU) 2015/340 and follows Entry Point North’s Initial Training syllabus. It covers nine subjects, including Meteorology, Navigation, ATC Law, Air Traffic Management, Human Factors and Professional Environment. The goal is for learners to bring a clear and shared theoretical foundation into simulator training.

“As organisations move more training online, some ANSPs worry that theory in an online format will weaken motivation and team cohesion. What we see is the opposite. With live sessions and structured collaboration, groups build momentum and a sense of team early, before they even enter the
simulator,” says Nilla Lundin, Business Innovation Director at Entry Point North.
