Spain’s Secretary of State for Transport and Sustainable Mobility highlights the progress made in decarbonising the aviation sector

Spain’s Secretary of State for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, JosĂ© Antonio Santano, highlighted the Spanish aviation sector’s commitment to sustainability and the progress already made in promoting its decarbonisation at the 4th Sustainable Aviation Forum:The New Era of Sustainability, organised by the newspaper El Economista.

Santano closed a day of debate and analysis on the challenges facing the aviation sector in terms of sustainability, which brought together executives from leading companies and organisations within Spain’s aviation industry.  

During his address, the Secretary of State for Transport and Sustainable Mobility stressed the key role that the Sustainable Mobility Act will play in decarbonising the sector, “as it will provide access to 10 billion euros in European funds”.

“The aviation sector has already embarked on a profound transformation aimed at achieving climate neutrality and decarbonisation”, Santano noted, citing as an example the operational and air traffic management improvements promoted by ENAIRE, including more direct routes that enhance the sustainability of the aviation sector.”
