04/03/2021

Adacel Technologies Limited, an industry leader in advanced air traffic management and ATC simulation and training systems, is pleased to announce a new contract award from the Saint Lucia Air and Seaports Authority (SLASPA) for an air traffic management (ATM) system. SLASPA will take delivery in FY2022 of Adacel’s state-of-the-art Aurora ATM for two airports as part of the Authority’s plan to transform Saint Lucia’s economy and revolutionize its position in the regional and international aviation industry.

“Adacel’s Aurora ATM system will provide an advanced set of integrated capabilities to controllers at the Hewanorra International and George F.L. Charles airports. We are proud to partner with SLASPA to deliver this world-class technology and help the Authority reach its modernization goals,” commented Adacel’s CEO, Daniel Verret.

The Hewanorra International Airport (HIA), located on the south side of the island, serves as Saint Lucia’s international flight and cargo hub. The airport is now undergoing a major redevelopment project and the Adacel Aurora ATM system will be installed in the new air traffic control tower to provide Air Traffic Controllers with the latest technology to manage air traffic. The system will also be deployed in the existing tower at George F.L. Charles (GFLC) Airport in Castries, located on the northwest side of the island, supporting regional air travel connections.

Speaking about the award, SLASPA General Manager Mr. Daren Cenac said: As we position Saint Lucia as a global aviation leader by building a new airport infrastructure inclusive of a new Air Traffic Tower at HIA, the Authority embraces new technologies for the continued safety within the air space. Management is therefore pleased to invest in the training and development of ATCOs both at HIA and GFLC for the implementation of the air traffic management system.”

The Aurora ATM system features the latest technology in surveillance and flight data processing and provides controllers with state-of-the-art tools for Approach and Tower control. The system includes an advanced airspace situation display, conflict detection and coordination tools, and electronic flight strips.
