CANSO takes its stand at Amsterdam Drone Week
CANSO is taking part in three days of networking and debate at this year’s Amsterdam Drone Week.
The exhibition sees some 1,500 delegates and exhibitors from 70 countries descend on the Dutch capital to see the latest in Urban Air Mobility (UAM) and Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). Exhibitors include the main drone manufacturers and the companies that support them.
Simon Hocquard, Director General of CANSO, said: “CANSO is proud to be a partner of Amsterdam Drone week and, this year, I’ll be taking part in a panel discussion on Global Airspace Integration: innovative and fair.
“There I’ll be talking about the work of the Complete air Traffic System Global Council and our vision for the future skies of 2045, and about the importance of integrating all the various types of sky users, including drones, civil, and space aircraft. We’re also taking advantage of so many colleagues coming together to hold a meeting of the technical committee, in order to progress our work on the roadmap that will implement the council’s vision.”
At Amsterdam Drone Week’s opening ceremony, a variety of speakers introduced common themes about the future of drone use, highlighting the potential gains in safety, security, mobility, and sustainability. They also talked about the need for greater integration with other airspace users, an area in which CANSO’s Members expertise and voice is key.
Adina Valean, Transport Commissioner of the European Union, said: “UAS will have huge significance for the future of sustainability and mobility in Europe. Drones play an increasingly large part of our present and will play a huge role in our future. They are an enabler for a more sustainable way of life and pave the way for innovation in many areas.
“The huge demand for airspace will be a challenge and will require new rules – a step change in the way airspace is managed.”
Delegates will be able to discuss how CANSO is contributing to this debate at the CANSO stand in the centre of the exhibition hall.
