Competitive and Sustainable Aviation: An open letter to the European Commission President

CANSO and the other aviation associations of Destination 2050 have written an open letter to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to call for an EU Action Plan to support our sector’s transition to net zero aviation.

This should address four areas:

• An industrial policy to promote uptake of sustainable aviation fuels
• Funding for research and innovation, including for the Single European Sky ATM Research initiative (SESAR)
• Reducing regulatory burdens, as recommended by the Draghi report
• Addressing low carbon and energy needs in relevant EU and national policies
