UPM selects SkySoft-ATM and their partner ROSE Simulation GmbH to provide an ATC simulator to equip the Air Transport and Airports Department of the School of Aeronautical Engineering.

SkySoft-ATM has been contracted by UPM to provide an En-Route Simulation solution to the Aeronautical System Department of the University.

This department is training future Air Traffic Management professionals whose syllabus includes training on simulators reflecting the environment they will have when starting their professional life.

The University is also extensively making use of simulators in their research activities such as SESAR projects.

The ATC Trainer SkySim, a joint development of SkySoft-ATM and ROSE Simulation, is the ideal solution to perform basic training, real time simulations as well as procedure and airspace design.

The system is composed of different modules which have been designed in close cooperation with controllers and the ATM industry.

The ROSE radar simulator is the component of choice for exercise preparation and airspace design, providing a comprehensive, yet user-friendly environment to trainees and pseudo pilots to perform their tasks.

The professional Air Situation Display developed by SkySoft-ATM and the O4D trajectory prediction tool provided by Harris running on the simulator are currently used in operation at skyguide, the Swiss ANSP, as well as in multiple countries worldwide.
To Ana Ruiz de Castañeda, the SkySoft-ATM Project Manager and previous student in the University, this tool provides a unique solution to get familiar with a real professional environment. It’s more than just a simulator!

To Fernando Gomez, responsible for ATM research projects and coordinator of ATM studies at UPM, this simulation platform is ideal for testing future ATM concepts and training of professionals, both engineers and Air Traffic Controllers.
