Skyguide CEO Alex Bristol takes over as FABEC Chairman
The Functional Airspace Block Europe Central (FABEC) States have appointed Switzerland as FABEC Council presidency, thus taking over the yearly rotating chairmanship. At the same time, Alex Bristol, CEO of skyguide, is taking over the chairmanship of the air navigation service providers brought together in the FABEC this year.
Alex Bristol, newly appointed Chairman of the CEO Board of Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) of FABEC, sets clear objectives for his term: enhanced environmental focus, a further strengthening of cooperation between FABEC States and ANSPs, as well as between the Functional Airspace Blocks themselves. Focus also remains on the continuous improvement of the provision of safe and robust critical infrastructure for public, passengers and airspace users.
Alex Bristol takes over this one-year role from Prof Klaus-Dieter Scheurle, former Chairman and CEO of Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH (DFS). FABEC States have also confirmed their continued commitment to FABEC in support of the Single European Sky in areas including safety management, digitalisation and environmental sustainability.

airspace users”, says Alex Bristol, newly appointed FABEC Chairman and CEO of skyguide.
The airspace of the six FABEC States of Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Switzerland is one of the busiest and most complex in the world. The majority of the major European airports, major civil airways and military training areas are located in this area. FABEC airspace covers 1.7 million km² and handles about 55% of European air traffic.
