Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority modernises nationwide ATC voice communications with Rohde & Schwarz CERTIUM Radios

05/06/2026

Rohde & Schwarz, a global leader in air traffic control (ATC) communications solutions, has been selected by the Hellenic Aviation Service Provider (HASP) to equip Greece’s air traffic control network with 990 radios of the R&S Series5200 from the CERTIUM portfolio. The delivery comprises very high frequency (VHF) radios and a nationwide RCMS II remote control and monitoring system. Shipments have already begun and are scheduled for completion by end June 2026.

The CERTIUM Radios provide state-of-the-art ATC voice communications and are designed to support safe, reliable operations for the next decade. R&S Series5200 radios deliver the Rohde & Schwarz standard of operational resilience and audio clarity between controller and pilot, while the RCMS II system enables centralised remote control and monitoring to reduce on-site maintenance and minimise fault recovery times contributing to the service resilience. The solution addresses the HASP’s priority to modernise and enhance its radio infrastructure without interrupting ongoing air traffic operations.

Following an extended evaluation and approval phase, Rohde & Schwarz will draw on its in-depth manufacturing capacity and global experience in critical infrastructure projects to meet the HASP’s requirement for a high volume of radios on an accelerated timetable.

“We are honoured to support the Hellenic Aviation Service Provider with a modern, reliable ATC communications solution,” said Marius Münstermann, Vice President ATC, Rohde & Schwarz. “The R&S Series5200 radios, which are part of the CERTIUM portfolio, and RSMC II capability will help ensure uninterrupted, high quality voice communications as Greece modernises its air traffic infrastructure.”
