ENAIRE improves its sustainability performance in 2025, saving 13,300 tonnes of CO2 and 4,200 tonnes of fuel
In a year marked by a new all-time traffic record — 2,470,604 flights handled, 4.7% more than in 2024 — ENAIRE, Spain’s state-owned air navigation service provider, achieved a notable improvement in its sustainability results in 2025, confirming its commitment to the sustainable development of the aviation sector.

In 2025, ENAIRE avoided the emission of 13,300 tonnes of CO2, equivalent to the annual emissions of 2,700 cars, and saved 4,200 tonnes of fuel compared with the previous year. As a result of these savings, 711,000 kilometres were not flown in 2025 compared with 2024, the equivalent of 18 trips around the Earth.
Greater in-flight efficiency, achieved by designing increasingly direct and efficient routes, and greater airspace flexibility, achieved through civil-military coordination, were key factors in delivering these environmental results. Specifically, the flight efficiency figure for the Spanish route network stood at 96.8% in 2025, the best result of the last 10 years, with the exception of the pandemic year 2020, while traffic reached an all-time high.
