The award is given to a company or team that has made a significant safety contribution which has reduced aviation risk in the previous 12 months. This can be a local, regional, or global contribution and may encompass a process, procedure, technology, or training improvement.

John Wennes, CANSO’s Safety Programme Manager, said: “Aviation safety is not merely a goal but a continuous journey—one that demands vigilance, innovation, and a steadfast devotion to best practices.

“Each year, through the CANSO Global Safety Achievement Award, CANSO recognises the collective achievements of individuals and organisations who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and initiative in ensuring the safety and security of air travel worldwide. Their achievements serve as beacons of inspiration, guiding us forward in our shared commitment to preserving human life, protecting assets, and promoting a culture of safety that transcends borders and boundaries.”

The nomination process for the 2024 award opened on 1 August, with a submission deadline of 15 September.

The winner will be announced at the CANSO Global Safety Conference 2025 in Christchurch, New Zealand, in March.
