Welcome to the third issue of Airspace magazine for 2026!

Aviation has committed to net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, and air traffic management (ATM) has a bigger role to play than many realise. Every unnecessary holding pattern, detour or inefficient climb burns fuel, and many of the solutions to cut that waste already exist. The challenge now is to use them more widely and to measure what they deliver.

This edition of Airspace magazine looks at how the ATM community is turning environmental ambition into action. CANSO President and CEO, Simon Hocquard explains why sustainability is central to aviation’s licence to grow.
