The CANSO Latin America and Caribbean Conference 2024 is focusing on the next generation of air traffic professionals
Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, 3 December 2024 – The CANSO Latin America and Caribbean Conference 2024 opened today in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. Hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago Civil Aviation Authority (TTCAA), the conference brings together aviation leaders from across the region and beyond for three days of collaboration and innovation, from 2 to 4 December.
As the conference begins, delegates will engage in discussions and workshops focused on addressing key challenges in air traffic management. Topics include improving safety, enhancing efficiency, leveraging innovative technologies, and preparing the next generation of air traffic professionals. The event also highlights the importance of collaboration and sustainability in shaping the future of aviation in the region.
The conference was addressed by the Senator the Honourable Rohan Sinanan, Minister of Works and Transport of Trinidad and Tobago, whose Ministry oversees the administration of civil aviation in the country.
During the opening remarks, Simon Hocquard, Director General of CANSO, said: “With air traffic in Latin America and the Caribbean continuing to grow steadily, the region has a unique opportunity to lead through collaboration, innovation, and training the next generation of air traffic management workforce, ensuring the much-needed capacity in the future.”
Rohan Garib, Executive Manager Air Navigation Services of the TTCAA and Chair of the CANSO Latin America and Caribbean CEO Committee (LAC3) added: “We are proud to host this important event in Trinidad and Tobago, a region united by shared challenges and opportunities. This conference will inspire fresh ideas and solutions that will strengthen our skies and our partnerships.”
