CANSO Workshop: Strengthening Space Transport Operations Collaboration in the LAC Region
When
Thursday 30 October
09:00-13:00
Session overview
With the global space economy experiencing exponential growth, ANSPs in Latin America and the Caribbean are no longer observers. They now have a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of Space Operations Collaborative Decision-Making. This dynamic workshop brings visionaries from Civil Aviation Authorities (CAA), industry experts, airspace users, Launch Service Providers (LSP), and ANSPs together to strategise the region’s advancement in space launch operations.
Due to its prime equatorial geography, extraordinary talent, and a commitment to regional cooperation and collaboration, the region is poised to evolve into a dynamic centre for launch activities. As space operations increase in volume and complexity across the region, collaboration among airspace stakeholders is critical.
Participants will:
• Share best practices and lessons learned from prior space launches
• Become familiar with space operations: The Whys?
• Gain an understanding of the various phases of space launches
• Explore data and information sharing for decision-making
• Gain and understand the decision-making process involved in preparing for a space launch
• Discuss the importance of cross-border coordination and collaboration
• Examine why airspace and orbital operations need to be harmonised
• Identify opportunities for sustained partnerships and regional coordination mechanisms
This workshop represents an exclusive opportunity to comprehend the collaborative efforts required between ANSPs and LSPs, to enhance operational efficiency while consistently prioritising safety first. Together, we can lay the foundation for the LAC region to become a global leader in safe, efficient, and coordinated space launch and recovery operations.
