Nominations open for CANSO Global Safety Achievement Award 2021

01/03/2022

Air Traffic Management providers around the world have been invited to submit their nominations for the CANSO (Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation) Global Safety Achievement Award.

The award honours those organisations, companies or teams that made a significant safety contribution to reducing aviation risk in 2021. Local, regional or global nominations are welcome, as are those for new or improved processes, procedures, technologies or training improvements.

Bill Middleswart, CANSO’s Safety Programme Director, said: “2021 continued to be a challenging year for our industry. However, our collective commitment to aviation safety and to finding new ways to improve it never wavered, and now it’s time to celebrate that.

“And as excellence in safety should be recognised wherever it occurs, nominees do not have to be members of CANSO. Anyone in our industry that has gone above and beyond on safety is an eligible recipient of the award.”

The shortlisted nominations will be announced towards the end of April, and the winner will be revealed during a CANSO Safety Programme gathering alongside World ATM Congress in Madrid in June.

The Irish Aviation Authority received the 2020 award in recognition of its use of the Aireon ALERT service to provide vital support for search and rescue personnel.

Nominations close on 8 April.
