Meet our Speakers
Willie Walsh, Director General, IATA
Willie became Director General of IATA in April 2021.
He started his aviation career as a cadet pilot for Aer Lingus before becoming its CEO in 2001. He became CEO of British Airways in 2005 and led the company through the global financial crisis before merging it with Iberia to form International Airlines Group, which he led from 2011 to 2020.
Juan Carlos Salazar, Secretary General, ICAO
Juan Carlos Salazar started his three-year term in August 2021.
His career in international civil aviation spans over 27 years in various advisory and leadership roles, most recently as Director General of Aeronautica Civil de Colombia ā Aerocivil. For the 12 years before joining Aerocivil, he was a Senior Advisor to the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority.
