Yamashita Yuji
Director General
Japan Air Navigation Service (JANS)
Since joining the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) of Japan in 1994, Mr. YAMASHITA has been involved in transport administration for 30 years. He has wide range of experience of transport issues in Japan and especially in civil aviation among others.
As Director of the Air Navigation Services Planning Division (2018-2020), he worked hard to fundamentally reorganize domestic controlled airspace and expand Haneda Airport’s capacity by the routes over central Tokyo.
He formulated visitor transportation plans and engaged in coordinating with operators to ensure transportation capacity as Director-General of the Transportation Bureau of the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition in 2023-2024.
Since July 2025, as the Director General of Air Navigation Services Department, Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB), he works with colleagues to ensure the air traffic safety and to upgrade ANS in Japan.
