CANSO Members unanimously approve Diversity and Inclusion resolution at 28th Annual General Meeting

At the 28th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO) held in Baku, Azerbaijan, members unanimously approved and passed a significant resolution on diversity and inclusion. This landmark decision underscores the Air Traffic Management industry’s commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce, which is essential for driving innovation, safety, and growth.

As digital technologies and AI transform the Air Traffic Management (ATM) industry, there is an urgent need to foster a workforce rich in diverse talents and experiences. The resolution highlights the benefits of a diverse workplace, such as enhanced creativity, equality, and a stronger ability to serve the industry effectively. The AGM outlined the current gender imbalance in the aviation workforce and the need for improved diversity policies and practices.

It also noted the positive impact of diverse senior leadership and mentoring programmes. The resolution calls for concrete actions, including promoting diversity in attraction and promotion, assembling diverse panels for events, collaborating with stakeholders, raising awareness through training, and setting measurable diversity goals. The overarching aim is to create an inclusive work environment where every individual can thrive, ultimately contributing to the industry’s sustainable growth.
