Brought to you by CANSO: Exploring Datalink in Latin America and Caribbean Part Two: The Essential Efficient Tower
Air traffic controllers in the airport traffic control tower are responsible for safely controlling the current airport environment. They provide pilots with taxiing, take-off instructions, and traffic clearance, among many other tasks. The delivery of instructions through multiple platforms not integrated with the air traffic tower system increases the opportunities for error while changing from between layers.
CANSO teamed up with SITA to bring you the second of a two-part webinar series aimed at sharing successful datalink cases, benefits, and efficient tower solutions including controller-pilot datalink communications (CPDLC), departure clearance service (DCL), digital-automatic terminal information service (D-ATIS), electronic flights strips (EFS), and Datalink.
The second CANSO-SITA webinar explained how integrating ATC tower systems through datalink increases air traffic controller awareness, safety, and productivity.
Key topics included:
- Identify five fundamental issues of today´s air traffic control towers
- Solutions, and
- Benefits
Our speakers included:
Ms Lisa Bee, Director, Air Traffic Services, Inmarsat Aviation
Mr Kaio Quinan, Head of Business Development ATC in the Americas, SITA
