ENAIRE cuts aviation emissions to the atmosphere by more than 13,000 tonnes of CO2 a year
On World Environment Day, ENAIRE reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability through its management of Spanish airspace, which is making a decisive contribution to decarbonising the aviation sector.

In 2025, Spain’s national air navigation service provider cut aviation CO2 emissions to the atmosphere by 13,300 tonnes, after handling 2.47 million flights, up 4.7 per cent on 2024 and marking a new all-time high.
Operational improvements designed to deliver more direct and efficient flight paths also enabled airlines to save 4,200 tonnes of fuel and reduce distance flown by 711,000 kilometres—the equivalent of roughly 18 trips around the world.
By promoting efficiency and more sustainable airspace management, ENAIRE has helped airlines operate more efficiently. The emissions avoided are equivalent to taking nearly 3,000 vehicles off the road, or to the amount of CO2 absorbed by more than 600,000 trees.
