Workshop: Building a Human Performance Culture in African ANSPs

Human Performance represents the contribution to system performance and refers to how people perform their work. Humans form the primary part of our operations across every ANSP, and how the they interface with their environment, equipment and each other is critical for the optimal performance of the whole system and especially the safety performance across ATS, AIM and the related technical domains.

This session will particularly focus on the importance of the culture that enables human performance in an ANSP. Moreover, the human element as the strength and vulnerable point for error during losses of separation and runway incursions will be discussed by means of examples illustrating how this human focus in investigations can aid subsequent safety lessons and systemic safety improvements. Lastly, the session will conclude on the positioning of the human in the digitised ATM environment to optimally enable synergy between humans and technology.
