Keynote Address: Air Navigation Safety Differently
When
Monday 24 August
10:00-10:45
Session overview
Overview:
With traffic volumes and global disruptions up, staffing levels either down or at least continually challenging, and regulators expecting the implementation of workable safety management systems, many ANSPs are wrestling with how to meaningfully integrate human factors in an evolving high-tech but fundamentally still people-centric business.
In this keynote, the originator of ’safety differently’ and ‘restorative just culture,’ Sidney Dekker, will encourage ANSPs to declutter their safety bureaucracies and identify and enhance the capacities in people and process that make things go well, and to offer compassion, restoration and learning when they don’t. Sidney will present a refreshing, and at times provocative, take on safety culture, on the battle against compliance clutter and safety theatre, on techno-optimism, and the continued role of people in a new era for ANSPs.
