CEO Panel: How are ANSPs Dealing with the Demand while Continuing to offer the Service in an already Congested Airspace?
When
Wednesday 29 October
13:45-14:45
Session overview
Every year, our airspace is becoming more congested. The latest CANSO Aireon traffic report shows a 5.7 per cent increase in air traffic compared to the corresponding period in 2024. That same trend is being played out in the LAC region. In the first quarter of 2025, South America demonstrated a double-digit increase in flight volumes, with reported flight hours escalating from 11,800 on March 24, 2024, to 13,700 on March 23, 2025, reflecting a 16 per cent increase.
The Caribbean region also showed a five per cent increase.
Dealing with this rapid rise in air traffic requires ANSPs to dynamically manage capacity to meet airspace users’ needs and to ensure that sufficient resources are allocated.
During this session, ANSP leaders from across the region will share their experiences and the best practice measures they have implemented to deal with the ever-increasing volumes of traffic. Our expert speakers will share how they introduced new procedures, handled contingency events to minimise disruption, and the hiring and training strategies they implemented in response to the increase in air traffic.
Participants will gain insights into how to optimise the utilisation of limited airspace while ensuring the safe continuance of an exceptional airspace management service.
