Organisation overview

ASA was created as a public company on 31 December 1983, and began its activities on 17 February 1984, with the objective of operating and developing the airports and aerodromes in Cabo Verde and Sal Oceanic FIR.

Since 24 July 2023, ASA ceased to manage the airports, which passed to the management of a private company.

Therefore, ASA’s main responsibilities now are to provide safe, efficient and environmentally conscious air navigation services in Sal Oceanic FIR and to contribute to the development of the air transport system and to the country’s economic, social and cultural development. The company headquarters is in Sal, one of ten archipelago islands.

ASA’s activity is focused on providing Air Traffic Services, mainly from the Oceanic Control Center in Sal island, but also through the control towers at the international airports of Sal, Santiago, Boavista and São Vicente Islands. The company also provides flight information services at the aerodromes of Fogo, São Nicolau and Maio islands.

ASA has made significant investments over the years to improve and modernize Cabo Verde’s communication, navigation, surveillance and Air Traffic management infrastructures, reflecting its strong commitment to the safe and sustainable development of the entire civil aviation sector, both nationally and internationally.

ASA is proud to hold ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 certifications, which help the company to improve its performance in terms of quality, safety and in meeting its customers’ expectations.
