Safely navigating the industry recovery – maintaining competency and training during recovery
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to have an unprecedented and lasting impact on the aviation industry CANSO, International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers’ Association (IFATCA), International Federation of Air Line Pilots’ Associations (IFALPA) and International Air Transport Association (IATA) are pleased to continue their second webinar series, focussing on the safe recovery to normal operations.
This second session looked at how we maintain competency and training during the recovery period.
Restricted access to training facilities combined with possible spikes in traffic levels, and the replacement of ICAO’s COVID-19 Contingency Related Differences (CCRD) by a Targeted Exemptions System from 1 April give rise to many challenges related to training operational staff. Since the out-break of COVID-19, airlines and ANSPs have been working to address challenges related to training, and drive solutions to ensure competency of operational personnel.
At this webinar we learned about the measures airlines and ANSPs are taking and some of the best practices that can be implemented during recovery.
