Meet our speaker

Steven Barry has a degree and PhD in Applied Mathematics. After a career in universities, he began work with Airservices Australia in 2010, doing development, analysis, and reporting of aviation risk.
He is Rapporteur of the Mathematics Sub-Group of the ICAO separation and airspace safety panel (SASP) and was part of the team that developed new oceanic separation standards using space-based ADS-B now in use in the North Atlantic (which was awarded Royal Aeronautical Society, Team Silver Medal, 2022). He manages the Australian Airspace Monitoring Agency and currently leads Airservices’ Risk Intelligence team, quantifying risk for occurrences and airspaces, and assisting in risk assessments related to airspace changes.
