Mr. Samba Dabor, a Sierra Leonean national, is an accomplished professional in the field of aviation safety. He currently holds the position of Safety Manager at the Roberts Flight Information Region (Roberts FIR), a tripartite organization serving the Republics of Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone entrusted with ensuring the safety and regularity of general air traffic services within its designated airspace.

Mr. Dabor assumed the role of Safety Manager at Roberts FIR on 29 May 2018. In this capacity, he demonstrates exceptional expertise in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the organization’s Safety Management System (SMS). As a focal point for safety management matters, he plays a pivotal role in addressing safety-related issues within the organization.

With a distinguished aviation career spanning over 18 years, Mr. Dabor’s journey began as a dual-rated Air Traffic Control Officer (ATCO) in April 2004, serving a five-year period, at the Freetown International Airport in Lungi, Sierra Leone. During his tenure as an ATCO, Mr. Dabor’s instrumental role and leadership in various initiatives aimed at enhancing air traffic safety have significantly and undeniably made a substantial impact on the aviation landscape in Sierra Leone. In 2009, he moved job to Roberts FIR where he also served as senior air traffic controller until his appointment as Safety Manager in 2018.

His exceptional achievements were recognized globally when he was awarded the CANSO Global Safety Achievement Award in November 2018. The award acknowledged his remarkable achievement of developing and establishing Roberts FIR’s inaugural Safety Management System (SMS) within a mere three months.

Mr. Dabor’s dedication to aviation safety extends beyond his immediate responsibilities. He currently holds the position of CANSO Focal Point for Roberts FIR and is Deputy Chair for CANSO Africa Safety Workgroup (AFI Safety WG).

Mr. Dabor’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the African Methodist Episcopal Zion University in the Republic of Liberia. He also holds an Advanced Diploma in Air Traffic Control from Pakistan, an Aviation Safety Management Diploma (ASM Dip) from Singapore and a Safety Oversight Diploma from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), In addition, Mr. Dabor has earned series of certificates in the field of Air Traffic Management from the Aviation Training Academy in South Africa. He is fluent in English and his exceptional contributions continue to shape the aviation industry.
