Roy Johanis
Executive Vice President of Air Navigation Control

Roy Johanis, S.Sos., MS, is a senior aviation professional with over twenty-four years of experience in Indonesia’s air navigation sector. He began his career as an Air Traffic Controller at Hasanuddin Airport, Makassar, where he developed applications that enhanced operational and administrative efficiency.
Following the establishment of Perum LPPNPI (AirNav Indonesia) in 2013, Roy contributed to the organization’s digital transformation by developing foundational platforms such as the first corporate invoicing system (BION), the Slot Management System (CHRONOS), and ADS-B data capture solutions. His leadership responsibilities expanded from 2019 onward through roles in operational data management and service evaluation, where he strengthened data integrity, performance measurement, and revenue assurance mechanisms.
In 2022, Roy was appointed Head of the Corporate Planning Bureau, overseeing strategic planning, electronic budgeting platforms, corporate asset validation, and the standardization of investment processes under ISO 9001. In early 2025, his scope evolved into Executive Vice President (EVP) Corporate Strategy, and on 1 May 2025, he assumed the position of EVP Air Navigation Control, where he is responsible for directing strategic policies, operational governance, and performance oversight within Indonesia’s air navigation service ecosystem.
Air Navigation Control is the core operational function responsible for ensuring the safe, orderly, and efficient movement of aircraft within national and international airspace. It encompasses the management, coordination, and regulation of air traffic operations in compliance with standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Roy holds a Master’s degree in Air Navigation System Engineering and Operations from École Nationale de l’Aviation Civile (ENAC), France, and remains active as a speaker in regional aviation forums on topics including sustainable air transport, industry leadership, and Airport Collaborative Decision-Making (A-CDM).
