Martin Timmons

Martins’ aviation career began in 1989 when he joined the Irish Air Corps, after completing a Bachelor of Science in University College Dublin. He completed 18 months in the Irish Army before commencing wings course in 1991 and graduated top of his class. He completed 2500 hours flying in the military, qualified as a flight instructor and primarily flew helicopters completing over 50 search and rescue missions. In 2002 he joined Ryanair as a cadet and would later become a Line Training Captain, Type Rating Instructor and Examiner on the Boeing 737-800 accruing over 15,000hrs flying.
In 2011 he was appointed Ryanair Safety Manager, and he successfully oversaw the establishment and introduction several key safety systems and projects, including data analytics, predictive analytics, and reporting software. In his time in Ryanair, he was a member of several EASA and International Safety Expert Groups. In his academic journey, Martin has received a Diploma in Risk Management from Trinity College, Diploma in Lean Six Sigma from University of Limerick and is in his final year of MSc in Quality Management at University of Limerick. He joined AirNav Ireland in 2021 as Head of Safety Management.
Martin is married to Nina, and they have three children, he manages a number of Gaelic football teams in his home town and at county level. He enjoys golf, hill walking and motorbikes.
