Mr. Arao is the Director General/Chief Executive Officer of Kenya Civil Aviation Authority responsible for the management and administrative activities of the Authority. He is Principal Advisor to the Cabinet Secretary responsible for civil aviation on matters affecting civil aviation development and practice.
He has served in various nationally and regionally including the Executive Director of the East African Community, Civil Aviation Safety and Security Oversight Agency (EAC – CASSOA). He is the Vice President (East) of African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC) and Board Chairman of EAC CASSOA. He is a passionate aviation specialist, pilot and engineer, with over 20 years of aviation experience in different management and operational areas.
Mr. Arao holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aircraft Engineering Technology and Master’s Degree in Business Administration in Aviation, with a specialization in Aviation Systems Management both obtained from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in USA.
An enthusiast aviator, the Director General is holder of Kenyan and USA Multi-Commercial Pilot License with an Instrument Rating,
He is married with three children.
