CANSO Operations Programme: Uniting for a Transformative 2025

As the CANSO Operations Programme enters 2025, its priority remains clear: working in close alignment with CANSO’s other global programmes, Safety, and Strategy and Integration to advance efforts to make the Complete Air Traffic System (CATS) Concept of Operations (CONOPS) a reality.

Collaboration has always been the cornerstone of progress, and as Helen Keller once said: “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” This sentiment is at the heart of our commitment to the CATS CONOPS. By working together across workgroups and task forces, we will ensure that the industry is not just reacting to challenges but also proactively shaping the future of ATM.

Making changes, whether personal or organisational, is never easy, but it is necessary. Just as individuals set New Year’s resolutions to improve their lives, we must also commit to making smart, strategic choices that enhance the impact of the Operations Programme. This means:

  • Prioritising what matters and identifying key workstreams that bring tangible solutions to industry challenges while ensuring that our collective efforts are efficient and effective;
  • Being active participants and engaging, sharing expertise, and supporting the development of guiding frameworks, technological advancements, and operational best practices;
  • Learning and adapting to encourage both seasoned experts and new members to join workgroups, fostering an environment where knowledge is built collaboratively and where fresh perspectives drive innovation;
  • Optimising our way forward by strengthening partnerships across CANSO’s Safety, Operational, and Strategy and Integration Steering Committees to create globally harmonised solutions.

The Operations Programme will drive advancements in areas essential to the successful implementation of the CATS CONOPS. This includes optimising Trajectory-Based Operations (TBO) to enhance efficiency and predictability, supporting High-Altitude Operations (HAO), and ensuring the seamless and safe integration of AAM, and into shared airspace.

The Operations Programme thrives on active participation, and we invite all members to contribute to technical advancements, share insights, and help drive global airspace transformation. Whether you are an experienced professional or new to the field, your voice and expertise are important to our success.

Let’s make 2025 a year of action, alignment, and transformation, because only through collaboration can we turn our vision into reality.
