ATFM toolkit to support ANSPs
CANSO has released a new reference publication designed to support air navigation service providers (ANSPs) in implementing and enhancing air traffic flow management (ATFM) capabilities.
The Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM) Toolkit: A Reference for Air Navigation Service Providers provides practical guidance, operational considerations and best practice examples to help organisations improve traffic flow, strengthen collaboration and enhance network efficiency across increasingly complex airspace environments.
The publication recognises the growing importance of collaborative ATFM in helping the aviation industry respond to rising traffic demand, disruptive weather events and evolving operational challenges, while supporting safer and more efficient airspace operations.
The toolkit covers a range of ATFM topics, including governance, stakeholder coordination, data sharing, collaborative decision-making and implementation planning. It is intended to support both organisations developing ATFM capabilities for the first time and those seeking to further mature existing programmes.
Nicki Harricharan, Operations Programme Manager, CANSO, said: “Effective ATFM is increasingly critical to maintaining safe, efficient and predictable operations across global airspace networks. This toolkit provides practical guidance and shared experience to support ANSPs at different stages of ATFM implementation and maturity.”
The publication is available to download from the CANSO website.
