A Latin American and Caribbean showcase of ATM collaboration and innovation

15/11/2019

Micilia Albertus-Verboom, CANSO Latin America and Caribbean region chair and Director General of DC-ANSP, looks ahead to an exciting regional conference.

We are only days away from the CANSO Latin America and the Caribbean Conference 2019. It gives me immense pleasure to welcome my industry peers to Curaçao and at the same time, I am honoured to host this event for the third time. I am delighted we will have over seventeen air navigation services providers (ANSP) and airports, airlines and international organisations joining us, and believe this will be a great opportunity to strengthen our collaboration and cooperation.

Shaping the future of ATM

This year’s conference theme is ‘Shaping the future of ATM through collaboration and innovation’, and we are committed to doing so. The conference will touch upon subjects like airport collaborative decision making (A-CDM); big data and the ANSP, and how ATM can secure the information and insight needed to transform operations; why collaboration is key to effective contingency planning; the future of drone management; and optimising air traffic management incident investigation. We are also holding a workshop on new technologies and navigating the rapidly changing world of technology.

These are all very exciting and relevant topics and I am positive all participants will acquire valuable knowledge and inspiration for regional initiatives as a result.

Whether we are talking about aviation safety, security, efficiency, challenges, commitment or any other aspect of global harmonisation, the key to success and progress is cooperation and collaboration. Let this be the guiding principle on which this conference unfolds.

Looking forward to seeing CANSO members next week and having a memorable time in Curaçao.
