Civil Aviation Department (CAD Hong Kong)
The Civil Aviation Department (CAD) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) is an air navigation service provider responsible for the provision of safe, orderly and efficient air traffic services to all aircraft operating in and out of the Hong Kong International Airport and within the Hong Kong Flight Information Region (HK FIR). The HK FIR covers a total area of 276,000 square kilometers extending over the South China Sea. CAD also serves as a regulator to exercise safety and security oversight on civil aviation activities as well as airport operations in respect of flight operations and airworthiness, aerodrome operations, aviation security, air traffic management and ATC systems.
