Nicholas Bodo

Kenya Civil Aviation Authority

Mr. Bodo is currently the Acting Director General of the Authority having been appointed in April, 2026. Prior to appointment to the current position, Mr. Bodo served as the Director of Air Transport at the State Department for Aviation and Aerospace Development (SDAAD), Ministry of Roads and Transport and Alternate Board Director representing the Principal Secretary SDAAD.
He started his career as an Administrator as an Assistant Secretary III at the Ministry of Labour and rose through the ranks to Senior Assistant Secretary (1994 -1999) before changing profession to become Chief Air Transport Officer at the Ministry of Transport (1999-2026).
He has a wealth of experience in the air transport sector spanning a period of over 25 years and has acquired valuable skills and expertise in the aviation, airport authority management and airline leadership.
Mr. Bodo has served the Republic of Kenya in various senior Management positions including: Acting Managing Director/CEO of Kenya Airports Authority (December 2024 – June, 2025, 2016), Acting Director, Aircraft Accident Investigation at the State Department for Transport from June 2024 to December 2024 at the Ministry of Roads and Transport. He has been Acting Director General, Kenya Civil Aviation Authority twice (December 2008 – September 2009, April – June 2022) in the past and Acting Managing Director, Kenya Airports Authority in 2016.
In addition, Mr. Bodo has been assigned representative Board roles in Government agencies and air transport sector including: Alternate Board representative for Principal Secretary, State Department of Transport on Tourism Promotion Fund; the Alternate Board Member of KCAA (2006 – 2015, June 2020 – March 2023, October 2025 – April 2026) representing the Principal Secretary, State Department of Transport, (June 2020 – March 2023) and Board Member, Kenya Airways PLC.
Mr. Nicholas Bodo holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Osmania University, India and a Master of Business Administration from Laikipia University. He is a Certified Public Secretary (K), Member of the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya (ICPSK) and holds a Graduate Diploma in Aviation Management from the National University of Singapore and the Singapore Aviation Academy and a Certificate in Air Law from the Egyptian Aviation Academy among many other courses.
A career public officer per excellence, Mr. Bodo has been able to provide the necessary transformative and strategic leadership in Kenya Government and its agencies.
