CANSO Latin America and Caribbean Conference 2016

CANSO – the global voice of air traffic management – was pleased to invite air navigation service providers and ATM industry stakeholders to attend the CANSO Latin America and Caribbean Conference, held in San Jose, Costa Rica from 5 – 7 December 2016, kindly hosted by COCESNA.

The Conference sessions covered the following topics: the progress of the CANSO Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM) Data Exchange Network for the Americas (CADENA) Regional Implementation Group (RIG) and its benefits for Members; how to respond to an accident or incident; and collaboration with industry partners to improve runway safety.

There were also two workshops; one centred on implementing performance-based navigation, with a focus on the benefits of implementing the routes recently agreed at the CANSO, IATA and ICAO PBN workshop held in Fort Lauderdale. The alternate workshop trained ANSPs on the CANSO Standard of Excellence in Air Navigation Services – Safety (SEANS – Safety) project. This safety standard programme provided CANSO Members with an impartial, standardised means of assessing ANSP safety management, building on CANSO’s existing safety management products.
