Aeronautical Information Management (AIM) Quality Management Development Guidance Manual
The digitisation of ATM processes and procedures plays an important role in enabling integrated and interoperable air navigation services worldwide. As the global voice of air traffic management (ATM), CANSO seeks to provide expertise and guidance on all aspects of ATM operations; and improving the standard of aeronautical information management (AIM) is just one critical aspect of this.
CANSO’s Aeronautical Information Management (AIM) Quality Management Development Guidance Manual offers CANSO Members and States advice on how to improve the quality of AIM and fulfil the requirements of ICAO’s Annex 15 – Aeronautical Information Services: the need for States to introduce a quality management system for AIM.
This Manual has been designed to provide specific guidance on how to improve information management. It can help achieve the best practice recommended in the ISO 9000 on quality management system standards and assist in the development of a quality manual – the basis for enabling the provision of timely, quality aeronautical information.
The Manual can also be used for the development of individual State quality manuals. The content can be adjusted for a State AIM based on local needs and goals, and the manual provides an easy and understandable path for development and adaptation.
In short, the manual is ideal for assisting CANSO Members and States in developing quality information management procedures and demonstrates how the organisation and division of functions, and a selection of rules and procedures, can help optimise ATM performance.
