CANSO Workshop: Building Modular, Interoperable ATM Solutions for LAC
When
Tuesday 28 October
13:30-15:00
Session overview
Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) across the Latin America and Caribbean region face diverse operational and technological environments. While technological partners offer complete “end-to-end” ATM solutions, this is not always practical or achievable for many ANSPs. Procurement processes, internal structures, and existing legacy systems mean that a modular, interoperable approach, where components can be integrated, upgraded, or replaced without requiring wholesale system change, is often the more realistic path forward.
This session will explore how modularity, integration, and interoperability can strengthen ATM systems in the LAC region, particularly in areas such as Free Route Airspace (FRA) and flight plan processing. Through the simulation tools showcased in the exhibition area, CEOs and delegates will gain firsthand insight into the advantages of a fully integrated Air Traffic Management (ATM) system.
While delegates examine how flight planning, AIS, FDP, and ATS functions must work seamlessly together to ensure correct data exchange, smooth cross-border coordination, and user-friendly tools for controllers, CEOs will steer the strategic direction, championing innovation, fostering collaboration, and aligning technological integration with the long-term vision of the Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs).
Format & Engagement
This will be an interactive, problem-solving session. Exhibiting CANSO Associate Members will engage with delegates in guided discussions at their stands to explore:
• Modular integration opportunities: tailoring global technologies to regional needs.
• Process-based challenges and solutions: using a block map to pinpoint interoperability gaps across the ATM chain.
• Practical quick wins: where targeted modules or functions could deliver immediate operational benefits.
• Scaling strategies: how to move from single-module improvements to system-wide efficiencies across the LAC region.
Objective
This session provides a unique opportunity to move beyond theory into practice, enabling ANSPs and vendors to co-develop solutions that are:
• Interoperable rather than standalone,
• Modular rather than monolithic, and
• Scalable to meet the region’s long-term needs.
The outcome will be a clearer shared understanding of the region’s functional challenges and a practical roadmap for vendors to innovate where it matters most.
