Regional Focus: ICAO/CANSO/AIRBUS Webinar on Aviation Cybersecurity Implementation – Introduction to Cybersecurity

Technology and cyber-systems have become essential to modern society and are a component of many activities that have become dependent on information technology. Along with the benefit of the cyber technologies, insecurities can arise which affect all systems and infrastructures. Cyber threats and cyber-attacks have a transnational component and effect, as worldwide systems are interconnected. Furthermore, their complexity have implications at national, regional and international levels.

As such, from the ICAO Assembly Resolution A40/10 Addressing Cybersecurity in Civil Aviation, ICAO looks to support States and industry in the adoption of the cybersecurity strategy, and ensure that cybersecurity matters are considered and coordinated through the appropriate mechanisms.

With that in mind, ICAO, in cooperation with the Civil Air Navigation Services Organization (CANSO) and AIRBUS, provided a series of events addressed to States and Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs).

The first session ‘Introduction to Cybersecurity’ covered the Cybersecurity Strategy, provided information to help understand the threats and risks associated with a cyber-attack, and examples of a security breach within our industry.
