Remarks of CANSO Director General Jeff Poole at the CANSO Latin America and Caribbean Conference in Buenos Aires Argentina on 6 November 2018

In his speech to the CANSO Latin America and Caribbean Conference, CANSO Director General, Jeff Poole, talked about the importance of States investing in air traffic management infrastructure to address future air traffic growth. He discussed how the latest technologies will give air navigation service providers a huge opportunity to modernise their infrastructure, citing big data, space-based surveillance, digitisation of towers, automation, artificial intelligence and others. He said that such transformational technologies must be supported by fully considering their impact on the humans in the system; by a global approach to standards; and a performance-based approach to regulation.
