Safety Management Systems – Standard of Excellence
In 2009, the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO) published the first edition of the CANSO Standard of Excellence in Safety Management Systems (SoE in SMS) in collaboration with EUROCONTROL.
Published regularly since then, The SoE in SMS draws on the experiences of CANSO Members to develop a framework that would help air navigation service providers (ANSPs) continually improve their efforts to manage safety.

The Pathway to Participation
The SoE in SMS relies on the quality of the data submitted by ANSPs from across CANSO’s Membership. If your ANSP is not taking part in the exercise already, you can take a look at our various Pathway to Participation initiatives to help you get on board and benefit from taking part.
